Chauvet Cave, France Paintings

The Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc Cave in the Ardèche department of southern France is a cave that contains the earliest known and best preserved figurative cave paintings in the world as well as other evidence of Upper Paleolithic life. It is located near the commune of Vallon-Pont-d’Arc on a limestone cliff above the former bed of the Ardèche River, in the Gorges de l’Ardèche. Discovered on December 18, 1994, it is considered one of the most significant prehistoric art sites and the UN’s cultural agency UNESCO granted it the World Heritage status on June 22, 2014. This Paintings has always amazed me because these are almost 30,000 years old & are so perfect especially the Rhino & its curves. So fantastic. Another is image of Lionesses. That is also spectacular because if you see it carefully then you will know how perfectly that Person has painted them. How powerful his imagination would have been.

Carefully look at them how awesome they are. While I still can’t draw a Pencil but this painting 30,000 years ago have so much meaning. Many times I think about the painter of these paintings. How spectacular. I took these images from Werner Herzog’s “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” Video on Youtube.
